Schistodesmus lampreyanus – Distinctive Freshwater Mussel from Guangxi, China

 This specimen originates from Guangxi, China. The shell is thick-walled and triangular to ovate in outline, with inequilateral symmetry. The umbo is positioned anterior of the center and is often eroded. The shell surface is smooth and exhibits several very large, concentric ridges that originate from the umbo. The overall coloration is a yellowish-green with a distinct gloss, accompanied by numerous dark greenish-ray patterns. Its striking morphology makes it a valuable species for both taxonomy and shell collections.
